Simple & Surgical Tooth Extractions

Generally, dentists do simple extractions rather than surgical. Simple extractions are performed on a tooth that can be seen inside the mouth. When a simple extraction is performed, a dentist uses an instrument called an elevator to loosen the tooth. After that, the tooth is removed with forceps.
Simple & Surgical Tooth Extractions

Surgical extractions are much more complex than simple extractions. Oral maxillofacial surgeons typically perform this procedure. However, general dentists can perform them as well. The doctor makes a small incision into your gum and surgically removes the wisdom or broken tooth. Sometimes, removing bone around the tooth, or cutting it in half may be necessary to extract it.

When is Surgical Tooth Extraction needed?

  • Wisdom teeth removal, if they're impacted, and the bone and tissue must be cut
  • When removing broken-down teeth
  • Taking out root tips or teeth with long-curved roots
  • If a tooth or molar broke at the gumline

When do you need to extract the wisdom teeth?

  • The torment behind the molars increases with time
  • Assuming there is any redness, enlarging or delicacy causing contamination
  • Assuming that you experience foul breath or terrible taste, which might be a consequence of wisdom teeth
  • Torment and firmness in the jaw
